What is WON and where are they based?

WON stands for the West Oxfordshire Network. It is a partnership of 16 local organisations representing the interest of the area and jointly responsible for delivering the LEADER+ programme in it. To find out who the partners are please refer to the West Oxfordshire Network page . West Oxfordshire District Council is responsible for the day to day running of the programme and seeing that the rules are obeyed.

What does SEEDA and Defra stand for?

SEEDA stands for South East England Development Agency and Defra stands for the Department for Environment Food and Rural Areas.

Is my project eligible?

To find out what criteria your project needs to be eligible for funding please refer to the Eligibility pages 

Could the project benefit Witney or Carterton?

Projects based in those three towns must be aimed at the surrounding villages and the majority of the beneficaries are from those villages.

How can I apply?

First step is to ask for an Information Pack. To obtain one please contact us.  or download a copy from the Introduction Page.  It will explain to you how the programme works and how you can apply.

How often are decision's made?

Decisions are made on a quarterly basis but can be speeded up if the project is time constrained.

How much money is available and where does it come from?

The total money available for distribution is £1,904,880. The money comes from: The European Union - £1,279,880. Defra up to £125,000. SEEDA up to £500,000

How long is the money available for?

The programme runs from 2002 to 2008 but no projects can be authorised after 31st December 2006. WON has a fixed budget to spend each calender year (January-December). Any money that remains must be given back to the funders.

How much can I apply for?

The maximum you can receive for capital purchases (i.e. assets) is £50,000 over the life of the project. There is no upper limit of revenue expenditure (i.e. running costs). All grants above £60,000 must be approved by the government office.
